Hi, I'm the mum behind Cyber Parents

I'm 45, I live in Australia, and I've got two boys — 5 and 8 — who'd happily live inside a screen if I let them.

A while back I realised I genuinely didn't know what my 8-year-old was seeing on YouTube and in his games, and when I started reading about it I got a knot in my stomach. I'm not a tech person. So I did the homework — the research from the people who actually study this, the eSafety Commissioner, the paediatricians, Common Sense Media. I tested the apps (and locked myself out of my own router once). And it clicked: you don't need to understand the technology, you need to know which few things to switch on, and how.

I'm not an expert and I'd never pretend to be. I'm a parent who did the reading — and I show you where every fact comes from so you can check it yourself.
